Osteopathy
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a practice that is based on the wellbeing of an individual depending on the state of their bones, muscles, ligaments, and connective tissue functioning optimally. Osteopathy is used to prevent, detect, and treat problems through manual physical manipulation.
Why did I choose Osteopathy as a profession?
I chose to become a practitioner of Osteopathy because I saw fist hand how effective osteopathic manipulative techniques can be in healing and treating the human body. After earning my DPT, I wanted to further my education in my field to learn new techniques so I can better treat my patients. The human body has always fascinated me and since a young age I've always wanted to pursue a career where I could help people. Pain management is one of the services that I provide and becoming an Osteopath enables me to provide the best service possible to my clients.
How does it Work?
Osteopaths use a combination of physical manipulation, stretching, and massage to treat a number of ailments including:
- relive muscle tension
- reduction in pain
- enhancing the blood flow to tissues
- assistance the body to heal
- increasing the mobility to joints
The practice of osteopathy is hands-on and focuses on the body's overall health. The different parts of the body work together. If one is not working properly, the other parts will compensate. This may cause pain, inflammation, and stiffness. If your body is not balanced, it will perform with minimal wear and tear and leave you with more energy to enjoy life. So, if you suffer from a muscle or joint problem, Osteopathic Manual Therapy is likely to help you.
